The Biggest Scare

On February 25, I got out of bed and immediately knew something was wrong. I bolted to the bathroom to discover I was bleeding and it was bad. I experienced bleeding at 4 weeks, but this time it was bright red and there was a lot. I ran back to our room and woke up my husband panicked asking for his phone (mine was dead) to call Dr. Miracle. The receptionist (Sweetheart) answered the phone, I told her what was going on and she told us to come in immediately.

I put on my "Believe in Miracles" shirt that my husband got me and we rushed out of the house. On the way to Dr. Miracle's office I couldn't stop crying. A million thoughts were running through my head. I was hoping for the best, but preparing myself for the worst. I just couldn't stop crying, I was a mess. I just kept praying everything would be okay.

We arrived and were almost immediately taken back to the ultrasound room. After I got undressed, Dr. Miracle and Nurse Awesome came in and asked some questions and then began the ultrasound. The room was complete silence as the ultrasound was taking place. I kept trying to look at the screen, but Dr. Miracle told me to keep my head down. They just kept starring at the screen and I thought for sure we would be receiving bad news. Then the most beautiful 5 words came out of Dr. Miracles mouth, "Well, I see a heartbeat." I had to see for myself, so I looked and I could see our little baby's heart flicker.

Do you see those dark areas to the left and bottom of my uterus? That's where the bleeding is coming from. I have a subcutaneous bleed and was ordered strict bed rest. We have a 50% chance of recovering, or a 50% chance of miscarriage. I don't know about you, but to me that is pretty scary. I have been staying in bed and following Dr. Miracles orders. I will do everything in my power to stay pregnant. I know this little peanut is too. My new nickname for our baby is "Little Fighter" because that is what s/he is.
